Understanding RPL at McMillan

At McMillan Staff Development, we understand that learning and skill development are not limited to the classroom. That’s why we provide two pathways – Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) – that not only lead to formal qualifications but also celebrate and formally acknowledge your professional growth and real-world expertise.

What is RPL and RCC?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) are processes that assess your existing skills and knowledge acquired through previous work experience, training, life experiences, or informal learning. The purpose of these processes is to avoid the repetition of studying what you already know and can do. RPL and RCC aim to identify your strengths and weaknesses and focus on areas where you need improvement.

Through RPL and RCC, we assess your skills against industry standards. This is done by reviewing your work history, including any informal learning experiences that have contributed to your skill set.

We understand that skills and knowledge are often gained through practical experiences. RPL and RCC offer a formal recognition of these skills, acknowledging that learning occurs in various settings, not just in formal education.

By identifying the skills you already possess, we can customise your training plan. This means you can focus on developing new skills and knowledge areas, making your learning journey more efficient and relevant.

Am I Eligible For RPL?

To be eligible for RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) and RCC (Recognition of Current Competency) at McMillan Staff Development, it’s essential to meet several criteria that affirm your readiness and ability to provide the necessary evidence for assessment.
